Evaluation: Anaïs’ food blog

For my last message, I need to evaluate Anaïs’ food blog in general

Anaïs
At first sight, your food blog looks amazing. Still, this is only your front page, I did not yet read your messages. We will start with your ‘About me’.

In your ‘About me’, you did everything that was told. You wrote a text of several sentences. I liked the things you told us about yourself. Now we know who you are, where you come from, what your do in your spare time… Everything looks very clear and you didn’t make any mistakes.

Next, we have the ‘Did you know’. The thing I really like is the image above. The ‘WOW’ catches the eye whereby the readers will be attracted. The second thing that I also like is that I didn’t know any of your facts. I found one mistake; in the text about ice-cream, you wrote ‘1. Where’. I think you forgot that is was already written in the beginning. For the rest, you used clear images and you added the sources.

Then, we arrived at the ‘My one and only’. I really love the introduction. In this small text, you tell us why you like it and what you can add to it. I also like the paragraph beneath. You bring the recipe in an original way. For example, you speak directly to the reader. Again, your English is good, you used an image and added sources.

To end, we are at the ‘Heaven on earth’. You tell us in this paragraph what your favorite restaurant is. While I read it, I could see you love it there because of what you wrote. I love the way you classified the text. You told us about the food, the beverages, the atmosphere and the employees. You really convinced me to go there by confirming that they have the best pasta in the world. Next time I am in Hasselt, I will go there.

Because I think this was a lot of information, I will give you a summarize. You gave us a good header, you did all the assignments, your English was perfect (although, I did find some mistakes), your stile was clear and adapted to the target audience (not to easy, not to difficult), you used images, you gave us your sources…

Great job!!!!!

regards, Maarten

Presentation in class: Food traditions

For my next blog, I need to evaluate the presentation of Anaïs

Evaluation Anaïs’ Food blog

Anaïs, I really enjoyed your presentation about Epiphany. During the presentation, your English was very good and you almost didn’t hesitate for your words. You should be very proud on yourself. I love the tradition but I never asked myself where it comes from and why it is celebrated. I was also delighted of your two mouth-watering cakes with the beans in. Unfortunately, I didn’t find them. These cakes are one of the most important traditions of Epiphany. I have no doubt you will get extra marks for this gesture 🙂 . Still, you have put a lot of work in your presentation and I hope you will get rewarded for all your efforts.

Greetings

Maarten

Place to be…

Me and my class went to a restaurant about three months ago. It was the second time we went eating in that Greek restaurant. It is called ‘Nostalgia’ and it turned into my favorite restaurant. You can find it in Hasselt, Belgium. In the next few paragraphs, I will explain you why I like it so much.

Everything there was, I adored. The decor is amazing. There are pictures of Greece all over the place, there were flowers, wooden tables… It is so cozy. They put on some really beautiful music and that makes it even greater. One time, the big boss took his bouzouki. This is a stringed instrument of Greece. It look like a guitar but it is not so wide. The instrument is often decorated. But that is not the point. So one night, he took out his bouzouki and played a song for the whole restaurant and all its people. He even sang a song. It was beautiful.

Nothing is more important than the taste of the meals to criticize a restaurant . Of course, there was only Greek food, what did you expect. For the appetizer, they offer you a choice of seventeen. They have feta, grilled squid rings, scampi Katarina, tzatziki, Greek salad… After the appetizer, you can choose between meat or fish. If you choose the meat dishes, they offer you eighteen choices. I think I sat there for twenty minutes, only for choosing my meal. You could also go for the fish dishes. This time, there were only eight choices.

unfortunately, this is only my opinion. But luckily, there are others that can confirm my ultra-positive opinion. On the website of Nostalgia, people have written comments and while I read it, I did not see any negative one.

I hope I have convinced you with this article. So when you are in Belgium and you don’t know what to eat, just reserve a place and you will have a really nice evening. And maybe, you will become obsessed with the Greek kitchen.

My favourite dish

My favorite dish is a plate with some spareribs, some French fries and some apple compote. First of all, I like the spareribs because they are delicious and I love to bite off the meat from the bones. I adore apple compote because when I am eating something warm, it is always that cold sauce that takes the heat in my mouth away. You can never have a bad meal when there are French fries, especially when those are Belgium French fries. Those are the best. I would like to give a recipe but there isn’t one for these three. What I can do is give you the recipe of these three item separately. Although, it is not so difficult. Spareribs: -Buy some spareribs in the supermarket -When your home, heat the barbecue -When the barbecue is ready, place the spareribs on top of the grid -Add some herbs if you prefer -when the spareribs are ready, put them on a wooden plank -Take a sharp knife and cut between two                                                               French fries: -Peel some potatoes -Wash them under the water tap -Cut them to French fries -Dry them with paper towels -Put on the fryer -Put your French fries in the fryer for the first bake (160 degrees) -After five minutes, get them out and put your second portion into the fryer -Again after five minutes, get them out and put the first one’s in for the second bake (190 degrees) until they are beautiful brown -Repeat that until all your French fries are ready Apple compote: -Peel a/some apple/apples -Cut them into small pieces -Put them in a bowl -Heat them in a microwave -When there hot enough, mash them -Add some sugar Put everything together on a beautiful plate and bon appétit.

About me…

Hi everyone,
my first name is Maarten, I’m a boy of 16 years old and I’m a student at KJ in Hasselt, Belgium. (For those who doesn’t know it, it is a small country in the center of Europe) As my name is ‘Maarten’, I was thinking about a special username. For this, I chose ‘Tomaarten’, coming from ‘Tomaten’ and ‘Maarten’. How original is that? The funny thing is that I don’t even like Tomatoes. Together with Brussels sprouts and leek, these form my least yummy vegetables. If you would like to hear more, just read my following messages. Kind Regards
